    Hi,
Thanks for the show, always good to know what NOT to do…

    (1) On Pete’s UPS problem, I wonder if there is a thing on the line side where it would select a live circuit. Run both UPS’s on those and if one circuit is still up they would use it.

    (2) You had the AD for the ARRL so you might be interesed in this: . My buddy at work has designed and built this. It uses an onboard (or your own) GPS to know where you are and the ARRL relay database to know all the relays in the US. Then it can tell you which are within say 10 miles. And when you pick it it will set up your radio to use it. Really cool thing, if you are a traveling Amateur very helpful. Anyway if you look he would appreciate any comments.

    (3) On Kevin’s loss of connection problem when switching V-Lans. I wonder if you could try pinging the gateway from the laptop when it’s moved. We had a problem similar to this and pinging the gateway restored the connection.

Hey guys! Great show. I just wanted to let you know that there was a noticable hiss throughout this show whenever you guys were talking (it didn’t come through on the pre-recorded content). It was actually bad enough that I had to stop listening with the headphones and toss my iPod into a set of speakers. Just wanted to let you know about it since it is typically not there. In fact, of all of the podcasts I listen to, yours typically has some of the best audio production, so I was suprised to hear the hiss.

Keep up the great work! Oh, and congrats to George on his recent nuptials!

To all our listeners, please accept my apologies for the hissing in this episode. Just before recording I discovered my rig was not producing sound. I finally had to revert back to a dynamic microphone with a lot of gain. With my cold, I obviously didn’t hear it as well in post production, otherwise, it would have never made it out the door.

I hope to have things back to normal by the next show.

I have seen my Microsoft XP laptop not notice that I have changed networks when moving from place to place across VLANs and subnets. The DHCP client apparently was not told to grab a new address so XP was trying to use the old address, subnet, and default gateway. I have had to do a ‘ipconfig /release’ and ‘ipconfig /renew’ in order to successfully connect.
