Yep… time to break out the coping saws, wood rasps, sand paper, and paint — it’s pinewood derby time!
Our pack has held two separate clinics for kids and their parents to assist their boys with building their cars. I believe I personally have finally gotten my shop in order to build cars easily within my own garage — or make it portable even.
In our household, we have 3 cars going this year. Daniel, who has built all of his car, and one for Darrin (our 3 yr old cub buddy — I’m building this car) and then one for myself. The car pictured is Darrin’s car.
More pics will be forthcoming once the cars are closer to completion — which has to be by the 15th as that is the final weigh in date. Race day is the 23rd — it’s gonna be fun!

As a dad, the Derby was the one thing that I liked about Cubs Scouts–the Boy Scout years were much better.
I got to run the races for several years too. Understanding double elimination made it fairly easy.
Enjoy.
