Camping Gear

So…  I’ve decided that I need to grow my camping gear — as economically as possible.  Besides new sleeping bags, I need to get a new dutch oven.  The one I have is nice, but it’s made more for range-top cooking rather than with briquettes as it doesn’t have legs nor the lipped lid as shown above.  What you see above is exactly what I’m looking for.  Now I just need to start hitting the garage sales around here.  Looked on craigslist, but nothing worthwhile came up.

Now that Spring break is over, need to get back to my 100 Days of Scouting too.  Lots of stuff coming up in the weeks to come.

  1. Watch Wal-Mart and Target, they tend to carry Lodge brand cast iron. With Spring here, I bet they’ll be running some camping sales. I actually have picked up good deals on cast iron at Sport Chalet too. Look in the camping and cooking sections at Wal-Mart and Target.

For other stuff, Campmor is one of the best places for deals for gear. I just picked up a VERY nice Eureka, 3 season bag for $40!

Also watch for Amazon warehouse deals in the used section on amazon. I bought a 7 quart that had damaged packaging but was fine for $20 instead of $55.
