How to be a good SysAdmin

Supported by listeners like you.

George and I figured, if you’re going to receive a new iPod for Christmas, you might as well have some fresh content on it. :-)

Dave, an ITT and FiT listener, provided most of the material for this podcast. In the FiT Forums there was a post about “Top 10 System Admin Truths”a blog entry written by Evan Erwin over at misterorange.com. In a follow-up post in the forum by Dave, he posted a list that he had originally posted on his own blog titled, “How to be a good tech.”

We liked that post so much that we thought we share it here on the cast since the word Tech could so easily be replaced by SysAdmin, IT Professional, etc. — you name it.

Happy Holidays, and we hope you enjoy it.

Hey guys, great show! I’m glad you liked my Top 10 list.

At this point the perspective is it’s a pretty poor list (the benefit to writing a decent list is that you get sent all of the Really Good Lists like the one in the forum link you speak so highly of).

I wrote the list to, literally, try out the “Top 10 list-itis” that every blog seems to have. I wrote about what I know, and it got real popular real quick. The rest, as they say, is history.
