Celebrating Loren’s Life

At the request of the Heiny family, to join in the celebration of Loren’s life, we were asked to do something as a family. So we decided to build stomp rockets. Not as high tech as some of the stuff Loren worked and played with, but appropriate for a 3 and 10 year old. The boys had a blast doing it and that is really what matters.

BSA National Jamboree

Was fortunate enough this evening to catch the “big show” at the national jamboree titled “A Shining Light Across America”. VERY cool that BSA provided a video feed that was broadcast by BYU TV as well as via uStreamTV. Of course, Twitter was active as was the PTC Media chat room.

If one couldn’t be at the National Jamboree, this was the next best thing to being there. I look forward to the possibility of one day attending a National Jamboree with one, if not both, of my boys.

Camping Gear

So… I’ve decided that I need to grow my camping gear — as economically as possible. Besides new sleeping bags, I need to get a new dutch oven. The one I have is nice, but it’s made more for range-top cooking rather than with briquettes as it doesn’t have legs nor the lipped lid as shown above. What you see above is exactly what I’m looking for. Now I just need to start hitting the garage sales around here. Looked on craigslist, but nothing worthwhile came up.

Now that Spring break is over, need to get back to my 100 Days of Scouting too. Lots of stuff coming up in the weeks to come.
